“I came to Mirvana Acupuncture because I suffer with PCOS. After my first failed IVF cycle, I decided to try acupuncture. It helped me to stay calm and relaxed. After my FET, I received my first positive pregnancy! Sonya is one of the most caring human beings I have ever met. She cares about her patients and always goes the extra mile!”
“My husband and I have been trying to conceive for four years. The last one and half years was spent going thru in-vitro attempts. I believe very strongly that acupuncture assisted in relieving my stress tremendously, improved my sleep, and ability to conceive. As someone trained in traditional medicine, I never believed in Chinese medicine, but I was so wrong about it. I can’t even begin to explain what a change there has been in my overall well-being. I am a different person. I am calmer, more centered, and I sleep like a rock resulting in me not being so easily irritated. Things that once triggered a stress response, don’t anymore. I will continue with acupuncture treatments whenever it can be used to improve my well being.”
“I am 38 and have no children. I had a miscarriage at 13 weeks in December 2012. In August 2013, when I had not conceived I was frustrated so went to an infertility doctor and also started acupuncture at Mirvana. Within 8 acupuncture treatments I was pregnant with an IUI and Clomid. I think the acupuncture helped balance my hormones and helped decrease my stress and anxiety so I could conceive. Sonya is great! She is very knowledgable and a must for every pregnancy!”
“I am so grateful for the treatment that I received at Mirvana. I was having so much trouble with my shoulders that I thought I was going to discontinue my competitive swimming. Fortunately I was referred to Mirvana by a friend and I am delighted with the results. I just returned from the National Masters Swimming Championships at Auburn University where I won 3 National Championship titles. This would not have been possible before treatment. Being a client of Sonya Patel is keeping me in the game. ”
“Sonya Patel at Mirvana Acupuncture is an amazing help to anyone suffering from various health issues. I originally contacted Mirvana Acupuncture for aesthetic reasons but received total pain relief from a different issue. I really appreciate the knowledge and care Sonya provides and it is always a very pleasant experience to visit the office. It’s a beautiful, peaceful atmosphere that surrounds you! Thank you, Sonya, Nancie, and Sandy, for all you do for your lucky, happy patients.”
“Acupuncture eased my heart palpitations, anxiety, indigestion, menstruation, and sleeplessness, aiding my pursuit toward an enriching lifestyle. Dawned by her endearing smile, Sonya’s acupuncture treatments were cultivated with compassion, knowledge, and hope.”
“I never in a million years would have thought I would be willing to try acupuncture. However, after 2 years of dealing with infertility and having no success with traditional treatment, I was desperate enough to try just about anything! When I made my first appointment with Mirvana, I was just hoping for some relaxation and a break for my body from all of the medicine I had been taking. But after just an hour with Sonya, I knew I was in for so much more. Over the next several months, she worked with me not just to provide a “quick fix” that would help us get pregnant, but she took a holistic approach that really addressed the source of my issues. In addition to the actual acupuncture sessions and herbs, she gave me practical advice on everything from what to eat and drink to how to exercise—it was a total life change! I did eventually give traditional medical treatment another try, but this time in conjunction with acupuncture, and as a result, I am so thankful to report that my husband and I are now pregnant with twins! Infertility can be a lonely, confusing, and painful journey, but I am so thankful to have had a source of support and guidance – physically and emotionally – in Sonya!”
“I have various minor medical issues, which have been manageable with acupuncture. I find it to be particularly helpful with pain issues. What I like best is that what I think the problem is turns out to be related to the body system. I also like the cosmetic acupuncture. It gives me a great overall feeling. I often feel like I am at a spa because I am relaxed and feel rejuvenated afterwards. I think Sonya is a marvelous provider and smart person. She is highly competent, timely, and a very pleasant person and practitioner.”
“I was 34 when my husband and I started trying to conceive our second child. For two years we endured numerous medical tests, fertility treatments, and suffered a miscarriage. I was at the point of giving up when I turned to alternative medicine. With Sonya, I received true support, hope, and compassion- things I had missed from my other medical providers. I have often said that Sonya is our angel, the reason we have our daughter. Only 3 cycles after starting her herbal therapy and acupuncture, we conceived our daughter. Now I almost exclusively utilize Sonya and Oriental medicine. As an athlete, I am stronger than I have ever been, have more energy, and am winning more races than I have in 15 years! My experience with TCM and with Sonya’s incredible skill prompted me to pursue a certification in veterinary acupuncture. Thank you Sonya for literally changing my life, in so many ways, for the better!”
I suffer from PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and hypothyroidism. Combine a sluggish thyroid with an endocrine problem that leads to insulin resistance, add in two pregnancies that ended with months of bed rest and the result was a significant weight gain. I took Metformin on and off for eight years (for the IR) but was never able to achieve a significant or long lasting weight loss, even with a trainer and a nutritionist. It was extremely frustrating and I had become resigned to my inability to lose weight. After reading about the benefits that acupuncture can provide to women with PCOS, I decided to try it and Sonya was recommended to me by one of her clients, a doctor who said that “Sonya is the best!” I am quite needle phobic and was apprehensive, but Sonya explained in detail what she was going to do (in both eastern and western terms) and put me at ease. Imagine my astonishment when I did not crave sweets by that evening–or the next day or the next or the next. After six months, I have lost over 45 pounds and my cholesterol is down 74 points. In addition, my stress level has been greatly reduced and my mind is sharper and more focused. Due to my experience, many of my friends and family have started treatments–for a wide variety of ailments–and every single one has experienced lessening of their symptoms. This whole process has been eye opening to me and I recommend acupuncture with Sonya to anyone who is searching for relief. Sonya has a true gift for healing and I am blessed that she shares her gift with my loved ones and me.”
“It was about a year ago, February 20th, 2010, that I found out the wonderful news that I was pregnant. My husband and I were surprised by this miraculous news and were and are so deeply grateful to Sonya for her assistance in bringing about the new life that grew within me. For 2 years I had been trying to conceive and was having a difficult time due to challenges stemming from my PCOS diagnosis. I had been going the standard route of trying to eat healthy, exercise, and utlize Western medicine to regulate my cycles, but was having no success and was feeling frustrated in the process. In hopes of discovering alternative fertility avenues, I began reading about acupuncture and was truly blessed through my research to discover Sonya. Immediately, in meeting her and having my first acupuncture session, I felt truly listened to, hopeful, and both calmed and impressed by Sonya’s thorough medical knowledge, her empathy, and the care she invested in building our therapeautic relationship. She took the time to review my medical history, provided me with a personalized treatment plan which included both acupuncture and lifestyle adjustments. On a weekly basis, I went to acupuncture for six months and I would truly like to relay to any of you who have doubts or are scared to try acupuncture, I honestly looked forward to each treatment. Sonya is very gentle in her approach, she is very warm and personable, and she is truly skilled and I believe blessed at what she does. After each session, I left feeling balanced, de-stressed, and at peace. Furthermore, even hours later, I could feel the acupuncture working at a deeper level to balance my hormones and heal my body while continuing to feel destressed and peaceful (previously I had been a high anxiety type of person). The positive news I want to share and emphasize is that my little boy is in this world today in large part due to Sonya’s acupuncture treatments. My husband and I conceived in as little as 6 months with her assistance. Sonya was a support throughout the process from providing the balance through acupuncture that my body needed, then helping to sustain my pregnancy once I conceived, and then in maintaining a healthy pregnancy and baby along the way. I am grateful to Sonya after giving birth to a healthy full term baby following her treatments and care. My husband and I cannot thank Sonya enough for her assistance in bringing our beautiful baby boy into this world!!! I truly recommend Sonya for her extensive knowledge, skills as a practitioner, and the love & commitment that she extends to her patients in the relationships and treatments that she is providing.”
“With all three of my pregnancies, I suffered from nagging carpel tunnel symptoms. After my first two babies it resolved, but remained after my third baby was delivered in July 2012. Being a full time mom and working 4-5 days per week, surgery was not an option. My numbness got to the point that it was difficult to hold my baby while feeding her and it interfered with everyday household responsibilities. I turned to acupuncture to see if I could resolve my issues without surgery. After two acupuncture treatments, I have not had any carpal tunnel related numbness or pain. I can hold heavy objects again, but more importantly, I can hold my babies once again without fearing I may drop them. I highly recommend Mirvana Acupuncture for your needs! The atmosphere in the office is very relaxing with the calming scents and music playing in the treatment rooms. The staff is very personable on the phone and Sonya is knowledgeable and friendly.”
Sonya: I just wanted to let you know that baby Charlie arrived shortly after midnight on July 31st weighing 8lbs 2oz! He’s so beautiful and we’re just on cloud 9! P.S. He’s breast feeding just fine!!! I’m also up to 2-3 ounces per pump! And I actually ended up freezing a good amount last month because I just couldn’t bear throwing it all away! I got lucky though! He loves it all!!! Thank you so much!!! I’ve gotten hugs from every lactation consultant I’ve met so far and I baffle all of the nurses! My husband says he loves watching the wheels turn when people wonder “how in the world…?!” (This was written after she adopted a baby boy and was able to breastfeed her baby with the help of her doctors and Sonya. She shared with us her experience after one acupuncture treatment mixed with her determination).
I don’t even know where to begin. Sonya is a Godsend. I was about 33 years old when I was diagnosed with Premature Ovarian Failure/Diminished Ovarian Reserve. Of course I thought how could this be, I’m young and conceived so easy twice before. Well, I started with Clomid and IUI’s but my body barely responded to 4 rounds over the course of three years. I was eventually told there was nothing more that could be done for me and the chance of IVF working with my own eggs was slim to none. Maybe I should consider donor eggs is what I was told. So after trying to figure out what more should we do or try, I remembered I had a book called The Infertility Cure, which talks about traditional Chinese medicine. So my husband and I thought it would be great to give it a try. I tried two acupuncturists before finding Sonya. Choosing her was the best decision we could have made. Sonya is so caring and compassionate and cares about your well-being. She’s very thorough with her treatment plan along with guiding your nutrition. My husband also had acupuncture treatments and herbs to help improve circulation, sperm count and quality. I continued acupuncture and herbs for about two years and eventually started the IVF process. Sonya instructed me the entire IVF cycle along with weekly treatments. All of which helped my body respond positively to the treatment. I can now say that we are pregnant, from my own egg and we couldn’t be more thrilled! We can’t thank Sonya enough for all her help, patience, and support.

We firmly believe that the internet should be available and accessible to anyone, and are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience,
regardless of circumstance and ability.
To fulfill this, we aim to adhere as strictly as possible to the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) at the AA level.
These guidelines explain how to make web content accessible to people with a wide array of disabilities. Complying with those guidelines helps us ensure that the website is accessible
to all people: blind people, people with motor impairments, visual impairment, cognitive disabilities, and more.
This website utilizes various technologies that are meant to make it as accessible as possible at all times. We utilize an accessibility interface that allows persons with specific
disabilities to adjust the website’s UI (user interface) and design it to their personal needs.
Additionally, the website utilizes an AI-based application that runs in the background and optimizes its accessibility level constantly. This application remediates the website’s HTML,
adapts Its functionality and behavior for screen-readers used by the blind users, and for keyboard functions used by individuals with motor impairments.
If you’ve found a malfunction or have ideas for improvement, we’ll be happy to hear from you. You can reach out to the website’s operators by using the following email
Screen-reader and keyboard navigation
Our website implements the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technique, alongside various different behavioral changes, to ensure blind users visiting with
screen-readers are able to read, comprehend, and enjoy the website’s functions. As soon as a user with a screen-reader enters your site, they immediately receive
a prompt to enter the Screen-Reader Profile so they can browse and operate your site effectively. Here’s how our website covers some of the most important screen-reader requirements,
alongside console screenshots of code examples:
Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website.
In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels;
descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (popups),
and others. Additionally, the background process scans all of the website’s images and provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as an ALT (alternate text) tag
for images that are not described. It will also extract texts that are embedded within the image, using an OCR (optical character recognition) technology.
To turn on screen-reader adjustments at any time, users need only to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen-reader users also get automatic announcements to turn the Screen-reader mode on
as soon as they enter the website. These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.
