Chinese healing

Suddenly everyone is talking about cupping-the ancient Chinese healing and detoxing method to improve circulation and energy, or qi flow. Though Olympians and celebrities have turned cupping into a trend, there are benefits beyond the marks!

Cupping has been used for centuries to remove stagnated blood and improve lymph circulation. The technique requires a flame in a cup to create a vacuum and it is placed directly to the skin. The skin gets pulled into the cup, warming the skin and allowing it to sweat or “detox”. In addition, the muscles that get pulled into the cup relax, thus allowing “knotted” areas to release.
More people are choosing cupping therapy alongside their exercise routine-cross-fit athletes, triathlon competitors, and even those who are just wanting to improve circulation and shed a few pounds. Cups can be placed on specific acupressure areas along the side of the spine to improve metabolism and circulation.

I am a medical researcher and write scientific papers frequently. Being a licensed acupuncturist for 15 years, I have seen several cases of when cupping therapy would be optimal and when it should not be rendered. For instance, when a patient has open wounds/lesions, shingles, or uncontrolled diabetes.

Our practice serves Sugar Land, Houston, Katy, Missouri and surrounding areas in Texas.
